July 24 – Hoping to give their children a life free from racism, a number of Floridian birth mothers are placing their African-American or bi-racial infants with Canadian adoptive families, reports Ottawa Citizen. With Canada’s accepting society and generous parental-leave benefits to allow ample bonding time, these mothers view America’s northern neighbor as the ideal location to place their children for adoption.
