APRIL 10, 2014 – On April 9, 2014, Italy’s constitutional court overturned a ban on using donor eggs and donor sperm in assisted reproduction, effective immediately upon the decision. “Law 40,” which has been in place since 2004, continues to prohibit single people and same-sex couples from using fertility treatments. A decision about the law’s ban on allowing carriers of genetic disorders to use IVF to screen embryos before implantation is expected to be made in June. Read more >
