A personal adoption story by a mother who's waiting to adopt about learning Tae Kwon Do as a connection to the daughter she will adopt from South Korea“Why do you want to study Tae Kwon Do?” Master Park examined my face closely, as if to find the answer in my expression rather than hear it from my lips.

“Well,” I began, “I have always wanted to learn one of the self-defense arts.” Master Park said nothing. He was waiting for more. “Um, my friend has done karate before and we thought we would try this together.”

“Uh-huh.” Master Park continued to scrutinize me—he knew that there had to be another reason….
