Intercountry Adoptions from Uganda are overseen by the the Department of Youth and Child Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development. Ugandan law requires adoptive parents to reside in Uganda and foster their adoptive child for three years; however, judges can waive this requirement if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the child.
